i'm willing to go hungry, ravenous even, for my exhaustion. just because you never saw my tears,it hardly means they weren't there. it was poisoned by your fears and insecurities. i didnt give you nothing. when i came home, i'd hoped you'd be there. La Familia says: just pick up the pieces of glass, throw them away, and then put bandaids on the injuries just because i can't see the scars, doesn't mean they've stopped smarting. if love can be lost within a few months, with a few silences,in a few unkissed kisses, it was never there in the first place. here i am, begging you to prove me wrong. "i'm just a girl, standing in front a boy asking him to love her" This is totally annoying me. When i've solved one mystery, another presents itself. The local ? (don't even know if he's local) ,graphic artist dekonstruckt sounds like a real dude. designing for heineken events and kinemat dance parties, he prides himself in sucking young blood. finally, an intelligent local artist. what i really desire right now. what i really covet: the vivienne westwood gay cowboy tee. i have yet to watch brokeback mountain, and i will once i can get off my arse. but this elusive gay cowboy tee is killing me. like the next beautiful gay cowboy, this tee seems never to be found. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a song. i know it sounds odd,but some songs are so beautiful, empathetic, artistic, poetic, cryptic, you only want to be in them to truly experience what it is it's hinting at. sometimes i'd really like to possess one. There are many good secrets. the world of hip-hop is always a good place to start. i'm not talking about nelly or busta ...pssh, they belong in clubs. Talking about real treasures... One of them would be mc solaar. his hardcore rap attitude, club rap influences, east coast rap roots, syncopated and danceable beats make for a mind-blowing mix that is total killer. to top it off, it's in french, making it so much more enigmatic and sexier. Rakim is alright as well, similar, but a little too old-school bronx for my tastes, abit vanilla-ice like. the rap sing-alongs he has punctuating his rap is also abit too 'fiddy-cent'. a tribe called quest is sweet stuff for just laid-back chilling, with their acid-jazz roots, they'll always have a place in my heart. the chill-rhymin' , clean lyrics, and heavy choral patterning of guru is lush. his track feel the music in particular, demonstrates these signature qualities of his the best. perfect for just chilling/ having a massage / going boutiqe shopping to. Gang starr ( forgive the name they are good),like the above, the swinging beats and harmony between the club rap influences and laid-back rhyming works well. a little defunktion in the mixing, but defunktion is rarely strays from good, hence by association, so is gang starr. (it's 2 'r's, no more no less.) I got love by Pete Rock and C.L smooth is definitely a keeper. If you were to scoff at the mc solaar, sneer at gang starr, save your refined audio palate for this. at the risk of gushing, this track is pure heavenly goodness manifesting itself in the syncopated and groovy danceable beats of this track. Also, the catchy hook of 'i got - looove' is bound to set you grooving in the tube or shower or wherever. Basically, you should own this track. or die. so there it is. Me, tapping into my music critiquing skills, not that i really have them, but i constantly surprise myself. + the gospel according to lavinia. |
